Hi friends. My name is Sohrab. I am starting a new podcast called “Cinema-ye doh Zaban-e”. I will be reviewing films. I will review them once in English and then once again in Farsi. Let’s start
Today’s movie is “Children of Heaven”. This is a 1997 movie and was directed by Majid Majidi. The two main actors are Mir Farrokh Hashemian who plays Ali and Bahare Seddiqi who plays Zahra. The movie is short but is very powerful. Note: I will be sharing a little bit about the story. There will be some spoilers ahead.
The movie is about a young boy named Ali who loses his sister Zahra’s shoes. It is an accident. The family does not have a lot of money. Ali and Zahra decide not to tell their parents about Ali losing the shoes. They decide to share Ali’s sneakers so they can both go to school. This plan is very tough but they work together and they try their best to make the plan work.
The story is about this brother and sister who love each other very much. It shows that children understand responsibility. The story is also about sacrifice. I give “Children of Heaven” an 8.5 out of 10. It is short, sweet, and has a lot of heart. You can rent “Children of Heaven” on Amazon Video.
